TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( Sept. 1) – In their final match of the FSU/FAMU Volleyball Tournament, the Florida A&M Volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (13-25, 18-25, 18-25) decision to cross town rival Florida State, here Saturday afternoon at the Al Lawson Center.
FAMU (0-6) had a pair of Lady Rattlers to finish in double-digit kills as Katherine Huanec finished with a game-high 12 kills, followed by Yeisha Arcia with 11. Diana Gonzales led the Lady Rattlers in assists as she dished out a team-high 35, while Karol Marquez recorded a game high 17 digs.
FSU (6-0) was paced by Nicole Walch with nine kills, while four other Seminoles finished with five kills each. Duygu Duzceler led FSU in assist with 20, followed by Sarah Wickstrom with 17. The Seminoles finished with 59 total digs as they had four players to finish with eight digs each.
The Seminoles would win the match as the Seminoles swept the Lady Rattlers with FSU winning the first set, 25-13, the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-18.
FAMU will return to action on Saturday, Sept 7 as they will take on the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., in a 7 p.m. start.
