TALLAHASSEE, FLA., (www.franchisesportsonline.net) – Tallahassee Community College Athletic Director Rob Chaney has been chosen as a Junior/Community College Athletic Director of the year by The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. The award is given to four athletic directors in each division of collegiate play, from the Community College level all the way to NCAA Division 1.
“In any profession, you work hard, you try to do the best job that you can,” TCC Athletic Director Rob Chaney, who has been at TCC since 1998, said. “So to be recognized for that, it’s nice.”
Chaney became the director of athletics in 2013. Since then, the athletic department has added a cross-country team, and plans to add more sports in the future.
Also in that timespan, TCC’s athletic teams, which include baseball, softball, and women and men’s basketball, have made eight state playoff appearances and won a state championship in softball.
This weekend, the men and women basketball team will compete in the state playoffs in Ocala, Fl. TCC is the only school in the Panhandle Conference to send both its men and women’s team to the tournament this year.
“To go beyond recognition for myself, it belongs to the coaches, the student-athletes, because we all work together to serve them,” Chaney said.
