On Monday night in the Lawrence-Gregory Community Center Gym in Tallahassee, the city summer league basketball Championship took place in front of a crowd of about 50 fans and spectators from the community.
This week Franchise Sports hit the hardwood at the Lawrence-Gregory Community Center Gym. We checked out Chiles and Leon, as they performed in a summer league basketball play-off game. We also checked out the Junior Olympic Track club program, and went to the Rattlers nest to see the boys of FAMU High School prepare for their upcoming season. Check it out here…
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 26, 2011) – FAMU’s fourth leading rusher of all-time, Philip Sylvester, has been invited to the Atlanta Falcons camp as a free agent after enduring the delay of the lockout. Sylvester, finished his career with 2,998 yards rushing, carrying the Rattlers on his back, with six consecutive 100-yard games to spark a six-game winning streak to end the 2010 season.
Sylvester said, “I feel great to have another opportunity to get on the field and represent FAMU, my city and my county. My agent called me around 9:30 p.m. last night and then a representative from the Falcons called this morning. I’m packing and getting things in order to leave.”
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 26,2011) – Tallahassee Community College softball player Kirsten Grant has signed a national letter of intent with North Carolina State University.
Grant, who is from Oakville, Onatrio, was the staring catcher for Coach Patti Townsend’s Eagles as a freshman in 2011. She will have three years of eligibility remaining with Wolfpack.
Grant was named First-team All-Pandhandle Conference after batting .341 with four home runs and 19 RBIs in 51 games in 2011. She has also earned three all-tournament nods – Gulf District, FCSAA and NJCAA.
Grant also competed in the Canadian Open Fastpitch (Futures Gold) International Championships July 11-17, where she helped Canada to a second-place finish. She appeared in eight games during the tournament and batted .500 with six runs scored and five RBIs.
On Monday, July 25, 2011, at Florida A&M University the Baby Rattlers took on East Gadsden in a seven on seven match-up. Over 40 fans were in attendance Monday afternoon to watch what both teams had been working on this off season. Check out the photos from the match-up.

Tallahassee football players all over the city are getting ready for the 2011 football season. Players are working overtime this summer, in the weight room and on the football field in hopes of capturing a championship title.
Last year, Lincoln high school amazed fans and opponents, as they captured the 2010 title.
