TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (franchisesportsonline.net) – Valdosta high school graduate Rashad Lewis signed with USC Aiken after he finished up a stellar high school career. Lewis averaged 19 points a game in his senior season at Valdosta, in which he was the Region Player of the Year.

Lewis transferred to Tallahassee Community College after he averaged six points in his 27 appearances at USC Aiken. Playing under TCC head coach Mark White, Lewis said he learned how to be a leader.

“Last year (at USC Aiken) I wasn’t much of a leader. I was the young guy coming in playing with juniors and seniors, but at TCC, I decided I was going to be a leader. I wanted to lead by example. I was going to be the first one to practice and stay late to put up extra shots after practice.”

Rashad labeled himself as a deep threat early in the season at TCC. His jumper demanded respect from all over the court.

TALLAHASSEE, FLA., (franchisesportsonline.net) – Tallahassee (18-9, 7-2) rolled over the Pensacola State Pirates (10-12, 2-6) on Saturday night 64-51. TCC has now won three consecutive games, taking over first place in the Panhandle Conference and maintaining an 11-win streak at home.

Last time they played Tallahassee, Pensacola State won on a buzzer beater delivered by Hassani Gravett. Gravett was injured Saturday night and missed the matchup. However, unlike last time, this game was never in question, as Tallahassee got off to a 9-0 run and didn’t look back.

“The way the game played out last time was definitely on our minds,” forward Stavian Allen said. “I think we had a little extra edge coming out here this time.”

The Eagles went on another run at the 12-minute mark. Guard Rashad Lewis kicked off the 15-0 run with a three from deep in the corner. The run ended after a media timeout with Tallahassee leading 29-8. The Eagles were up 36-18 at the break.

“We just want to keep playing our game. We want to win every possession until the end of the game. That’s how we remain determined and focused on finishing games strong,” commented Lewis.
