NFC Storms Back From First Half Deficit

Jordan Pandy, Correspondent

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. ( After finishing the game on a 27-0 run, the North Florida Christian Eagles defeat the Hamilton County Trojans 34-16. Senior Terrell Powell had a great game rushing for 119 yards and put the game on ice scoring the last two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The winless Trojans (0-3) were fighting hard, keeping it close and leading for three fourths of the game. The Trojans were running a triple option the entire game, and running it well, giving the Eagles (3-0) a hard time.

“They hadn’t run it [triple option] one time all year; it’s not on film and they run it well, they got the kids to do it,” head coach of NFC Steve Price said. “It was very important that we play disciplined – and even though we never practiced against it, because they never showed it on film, we still did a nice job of staying disciplined taking care of our gaps, taking care of our responsibilities. I’m really pleased. Our defense played lights out all game.”

“The boys played really well,” JPII coach Ken Silvestri said. “They were alert, awake, and had a lot of fun. They’ve been practicing really well, but we just haven’t been playing games very well. I just keep telling them, if you ever play a game like you practice, good things are going to happen. They played today like they’ve been practicing.”
