Florida Citrus Sports announced Sunday night that FSU will face Notre Dame in the December 29th game at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium. This is Florida State’s 30th consecutive trip to a bowl game, which is the second longest streak in NCAA history for a team.
The first match-up between these two teams in the Florida Citrus Bowl goes back to 1994, FSU won 23-16. Florida State has now played Notre Dame six times, wining four games.
“It’s a pleasure to go to the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando and face an opponent with great tradition like Notre Dame,” FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher said, according to seminoles.com. “They’re very well-respected and I think we’ll be in for a great matchup. Orlando is a great city. Our kids are very excited about coming down there. From being at the bowl in the past, the hospitality, the way we’re treated and the first-class organization in which they are, it’s a great honor to play in this game.”
