The Eagles (13-11, 1-8) were defeated 47-40, by FCSAA No. 7 Chipola College (21-5, 5-4) Saturday night in round three of the Panhandle Conference match-up.
The Eagles were just unable to get much needed points late in the game. TCC was led by Joell Hopkins, who finished the night with only nine points.
The Eagles took a 8-2 lead in the first few minutes of the game, but was never able to regain the lead the rest of the night.
TCC was just unable to complete much needed open shots. The Indians went on a 19-0 run before the half. They were able to go into the half with the lead, 25-22.
The Eagles should signs of life late in the second half, but was still unable to gain the lead. They trailed by one (35-36), with 4:44 remaining in the game, but forward Leek Leek was missed a key free throw to give the Eagles the edge late in the game.
The Indians was led by forward Tevin Baskins, who finished the night with 12 points.
The loss also eliminated the Eagles from chances of advancing to the postseason.
The Indians will go on to face Northwest Florida State Tuesday. The Eagles will travel next Saturday to face Gulf Coast State College.
