RS Sophomore and North Florida Christian Alumnus Gage Smith threw three strong innings in relief, allowing only 3 hits in facing 14 batters. Junior lead-off hitter Sherman Johnson, Jr. started the game with a walk off of UAB slinger Michael Busby that displayed patience at the paint, and scored both of the ‘Noles’ runs in the contest. Tampa native Robert Benincasa got the close for an FSU defense that allowed ten hits but got out of jams often with solid glove play and timely pitching; this type of effort will be needed against their next opponents (who bombed four runs on MSU) the Samford Bulldogs, when they next take Mike Martin Field.
