JACKSONVILLE,FL (Sept.1) – It’s official. Kevin Elliott has made the Jacksonville Jaguars’ roster. With an impressive preseason, that included touchdown catches, displays of exceptional athleticism and hard-nosed hitting, Elliott made the 53-man roster, released Friday by the Jaguars.
“I did all I could do, now I’ll just have to wait,” Elliott told FAMU sports information on Thursday, the day before the final cut. The wait is over. Elliott, by most accounts, solidified his status on the team with a spectacular 77-yard touchdown run earlier this week. He took a short pass and made three defensers miss and weaved his way to the score that gave the Jaguars the lead in their 24-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The third quarter touchdown put the Jaguars ahead 14-7 at the time.
Jacksonville coach Mike Mularkey was very pleased with Elliott’s effort on the play. “It was set up for him,” Mularkey said. “It was called for him to see if he could make that play. It was nice to see that one come about like that. ” Mularkey said the play played to Elliott’s ability to run after the catch.
Elliott, always a contributor on special teams, has also come up with some big plays there as well. He had a tackle int he Flacons game, along with the touchdown from backup quarterback Chad Henne.
