Coming off a bye week, the Rattler football team is rested, their coaching staff pleased with their progress, and the overall outlook of the program is bright with a freshman QB leading them into the stretch run of the season…
Head Coach Joe Taylor was accompanied by leaders of the Special Teams Units for the weekly press conference heading into their game against North Carolina A&T, including Redshirt Senior Edmond Baker, Junior Punter Brandon Holdren, and Redshirt Senior Kicker Trevor Scott. The move wasn’t merely a marketing ploy, for due to the re-dedication in special teams play under Coach Vasquez, the team has been able to pull of key victories, including the fake punt run that iced the W for FAMU against South Carolina State in Orangeburg, a place the Orange and Green hadn’t won in for quite some time.
Below is audio from interviews after the press-conference:
Looking forward, the Rattlers realize they must run the tables to have any shot at a playoff berth, and limiting the Bulldog ground game is the key to that rally. Head Coach Taylor emphasized that his defense must identify and eliminate the stretch zone run play of NC A&T in order to put their offense at a disadvantage. If the Rattler D can do that, and continue to display a balanced attack with multiple receivers getting catches from Damien Fleming, FAMU should enjoy a win on Senior Day at home.
