FAMU James Owens On Facing Delware State

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (www.franchisesportsonline.net) – The Florida A&M rattlers kicked off their run with a win over the Hampton University Pirates last Saturday at home, 20-44. The Rattlers will now get back on the road to face the Delaware State Hornets on Saturday.

The Rattlers leading rusher James Owens, who is coming off an outstanding game, had this to say about the teams next opponent.

Running back James Owens was selected as the week 3 national all-purpose performer of the week. Owens, helped led the Rattlers to a 44-20 home-openers victor over visiting conference foe the Pirates. Owens scored three touchdowns, gaining 161 yards on 11 carries. He also had 117 return yards, along with his receiving yards, brought his all-purpose total to 282 yards.

This is the 30th meeting between the teams since the series began in 1977. Florida A&M has won the last three games to open up a 21-8 lead in the series. The Rattlers won last year’s meeting 34-7 at Florida A&M’s Bragg Stadium.
