Florida A&M Volleyball team Defeats Mercer University

The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers volleyball team defeated Mercer University, 3-2 Wednesday night in the Alfred Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium.

The Lady Rattlers dropped the first set to the Bears, 25-10.  They would bounce back and  win sets two (25-15) and three (25-20). Mercer would win the fourth  set (28-26) to force the fifth and deciding set.

In the fifth set, Mercer would tie the set at 5-5 on a Jamie Duffy kill.  Then the Lady Rattlers would go on a 6-0 run to take an 11-5 lead, capped off by Ceccarelli with back-to-back kills. The Bears would cut  Lady Rattlers’ lead to 13-8 on  an Amiee Frutchey kill.    FAMU would go on to win the match  as they took advantage of a Mercer attack error and Jovanovic kill for the win.

The team will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to face the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 14.
