TALLAHASSEE, FLA., (www.franchisesportsonline.net)-  The Florida State Seminoles host the Florida Gators in the Sunshine Showdown in front of a crowd of 71,953.  The result was a 41-14 beatdown.  The seniors of this class will finish 3-1 against the Gators in their four-year tenure with the Seminoles.

For the Seminoles this game is more than winning bragging rights for six straight years, It is more about keeping history alive and extending the 36-year active bowl streak to 37 straight years with a win over the rival in-state Gators. History has come to a close.

The Seminoles had seven penalties within the first 20 minutes of the game and finished with 10 penalties for 60-yards.  The Gators had seven penalties for 49-yards.

The Seminoles defense gave up a total of 536 yards.  The Gators had 254 yards through the air and 282 on the ground.  The Gators defense only allowed the Seminoles a total of 293 yards.  The Seminoles had 154 total pass yards and 139 total rush yards.

Florida State

Deondre Francois finished the game 14-29 for 154-yards 1 TD and 2 INT.

Jacques Patrick finished with 10 carries for 52-yards alongside Cam Akers finished with 13 carries for 37-yards.

Tamorrion Terry caught three passes for 78-yards and Senior receiver NyQwan Murray caught three passes for 35-yards.

Florida

Feleipe Franks completed 16-26 passes for 254-yards and 3 TD.

Lamicael Perine carried the ball 13 times for 129-yards and 1 TD with a long of 75-yards.

Jordan Scarlett carried the ball 20 times for a total of 88-yards 1 TD and a long of 18.

Trevon Grimes caught five passes for 118 yards 1 TD and a long of 54.

Van Jefferson caught four passes for 92 yards 1 TD and a long of 39.

 

Freshman kicker Evan McPherson kicks a 27-yard field goal for the first score of the game.  Gators lead 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Junior running back Lamical Perine burst down the sidelines for a 75-yard touchdown, giving the Gators a 10-0 lead in the second quarter with 13:24 remaining.

McPherson kicks another field goal stretching the Gators lead to 13-0 with 6:33 remaining in the half.

Sophomore running back Cam Akers catches a 15-yard pass from redshirt Junior QB Deondre Francois for a touchdown, cutting the Gators lead down 13-7 with 5:25 remaining in the half.

Junior receiver Josh Hammond catches a 3-yard touchdown pass from redshirt sophomore quarterback Feleipe Franks, extending the Gators lead 20-7 with 10:53 remaining in third quarter.

Franks found sophomore receiver Trevon Grimes for a 22-yard touchdown after a forced fumble by the Gators defense.  That extended the Gators lead 27-7 with 6:20 remaining in the third quarter.

Francois took the QB carry into the endzone for a touchdown from four yards out.  The Gators led 27-14 with 3:44 remaining in the third quarter.

Franks finds sophomore receiver Van Jefferson for a 38-yard touchdown, that would extend the Gators lead 34-14 with 14:53 remaining.

Redshirt Junior running back Jordan Scarlett gets in on the fun and scores on a 9-yard carry to extend the lead 41-14. with 3:56 remaining in the game.
