The lady Noles were back at home Friday night to face their first ranked opponent of the season, the No. 11 Louisville to a crowd of more than 2,000 fans.
Florida State came into the game with a four-game home winning streak. The Seminoles last home lost was on Feb. 2, 2011 to No. 12 North Carolina (84-75).
Florida State defeated Georgia State (94-74) at home, Monday night.
The Cardinals came out with a 7-0 run to start the game off against the Noles, and quickly built a 21-10 advantage.
Cierra Bravard had a career-high night scoring 27 points for Florida State. Bravard was perfect on 11 free throws. Natasha Howard added 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds for the Seminoles.
The Noles came as close as a point 71-70, but was unable to take the lead.
“They’re a great basketball team,” said Deluzio. “We had every opportunity to close that game out. We need to learn how to make those runs and capitalize on their turnovers, get rebounds and score in transition. When we made that run, we needed to nail them, and we didn’t do that.”
Shoni Schimmel scored 25 points and Monique Reid added 23 to lead No. 11 Louisville to an 85-76 victory Friday night over Florida State.
The Noles dropped to 3-3 on the year, as the Cardinals move on to 5-1. They will go on to face Nebraska Sunday afternoon.
