TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State, the third winningest program in ACC play in the last eight seasons, will play its first ever game on ESPN’s “Big Monday” basketball package when it plays host to North Carolina on February 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center.  A total of eight ACC games will be broadcast on consecutive Mondays between Jan. 13 and March 3 marking the first time in ACC history the league’s teams will play a consistent series on Monday night – a slot that had been traditionally held by the Big East.

Florida State won the 2012 ACC Championship and average nearly 22 wins per season since the start of the 2005-06 season.  The Seminoles have played in a school record eight consecutive postseason tournaments including a school record four straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2009-12.

“The ACC is the best conference in college basketball,” said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton.  “The collection of teams and the opportunities we have to play in big, marquee games has always been tremendous; with the additions of Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse those opportunities have grown.”

In addition to North Carolina, the Seminoles will also play host to Notre Dame and Syracuse in Tallahassee for the first time as conference opponents.  The Seminoles’ entire schedule is expected to be released in early September.

“ESPN Big Monday provides a terrific window to further showcase ACC Basketball,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “This opportunity provides our players, coaches and fans with unprecedented appointment viewing, and it will be exciting to watch all 15 member schools compete throughout the season.”

The Seminoles return four starters to their 2013-14 team including senior All-American candidate Okaro White (12.4 ppg and a team-leading 5.9 rpg), point guard Devon Bookert (6.5 ppg and 2.4 apg) and guard Aaron Thomas (6.0 ppg and 2.4 rpg) to their starting line-up.  Florida State finished the 2012-13 season with an 18-16 record and played in the NIT marking its school record eighth consecutive postseason tournament appearance. Senior Ian Miller, who averaged 5.3 points per game as a junior, will also return healthy after being hampered by a foot injury during his junior season.

Florida State’s game against North Carolina is just one of the exciting games included in the Seminoles’ season ticket package.  Season Tickets are on sale now for the 2013-14 season. The Tucker Center will be the place to be this year as fans will be able to see the best basketball conference in the nation.  Fans can visit Seminoles.com or call the ticket office at 888-FSU-NOLE to order tickets.
