Walter Dix, former FSU track star, added a World Championship silver medal in the 100-meter dash Sunday morning in Daegu, Korea on a day of mixed results for the strong Seminole contingent.
Dix crossed the finish line in 10.08, behind Jamaican sprint prodigy Yohan Blake, who grabbed the gold with a season-best time of 9.92. Blake and Dix advanced to the finals from the same semifinal heat earlier in the day when they finished 1-2 in 9.95 and 10.05, respectively.
Reigning NCAA champion Ngoni Makusha failed to advance from the semifinals, finishing fifth in his heat in 10.27. Makusha will try and make amends Wednesday in the qualifying round of the long jump, where he has the world’s second-best leap this season.
