With the help of guard Micheal Snaer Florida State was able to defeat the fourth-ranked Duke Blue Devils on the road, and snapped their 45-game home winning streak in the teams first meeting this season.
Snaer was able to hit a three-point shot over guard Andre Dawkins with time expiring and the game locked at 73-73.
Both Florida State and Duke are now coming off ACC victories going into Thursday nights’ rematch in the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. Florida State, Duke and North Carolina are currently tied for first spot in the ACC standings at 10-2.
Florida State defeated NC State early Saturday afternoon on the road, 76-62. FSU was able to gain their third straight win, and hold on to their spot in the ACC standings.
Florida State has now defeated Wake Forest, North Carolina, NC State and Duke making this the first time in program history that FSU has defeated all four North Carolina programs.
This past weekend, Duke won their six straight ACC road contest by defeating Boston College, 75-50.
Duke is led by guard Austin River, who leads the team in scoring with an impressive total points of 406 and averages 15.0 ppg in 27 games. On defense, forward Mason Plumlee has grabbed a total of 261 rebounds and blocked 42 shots to lead his team in both categories.
This will be the first regular-season meeting of Blue Devils and Seminoles in which both teams have 10 or more ACC wins at tip-off.
Florida State is seeking its first regular-season sweep of Duke. This is the 16th regular season in which the teams have met twice. The Devils lead the series 30-8 in all action and 29-8 in ACC competition, but the Seminoles have won two in a row. They seek their first three-game winning streak over Duke.
Tickets are said to be sold out for Thursdays’ ACC battle in the Donald L. Tucker Center. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
