The Lady Eagles (11-11, 0-8) were defeated Saturday afternoon at home to Chipola College (16-8, 4-4). TCC lost on the road Wednesday evening to the No. 1 Pensacola State College in a Panhandle Conference match-up, 70-63.
The Lady Eagles trailed by as much as 10 points in the first period, but was able to go on a 15-0 run late in the end of the first half. TCC went into the half up by one point, 29-28. The team was led by Shanequa Phifer, who had 19 points and huge three-pointer to tie the game, 25-25.
TCC struggled to keep the lead in the second half only making eight of their 28 field attempts. Head coach Teresa Atkinson said after the game that the team was not in the game and was not fully prepared this afternoon for the match-up.
Chipola College was able to score 28 points in the paint and was led by Sara Djassi, who finished with 13 points. Chipola only made 11 of their 30 second-half field goal attempts, but went 7-for-10 from the free throw line.
Chipola College led the Panhandle Conference, 4-1 conference standing. The Lady Eagles are now 0-9 in the Panhandle Conference match-ups.
TCC will travel to face Gulf Coast Community College on Saturday in hope of getting their first Panhandle Conference win.
