The Lady Noles women’s basketball team defeated the Charlotte 49ers, 64-62, Sunday afternoon, at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
The Seminoles were able to break their three game losing streak.
“It wasn’t necessarily the prettiest win but we needed to win one of those close games down the stretch,” Florida State head coach Sue Semrau said. “Charlotte played great defense, but we got great looks. We had a lot of layups that we missed. We gave them a ton of second chance shots. It wasn’t the best basketball game but we found a way to win.”
Both teams battled it out throughout the entire game. Charlotte held the lead for the entire first half. The Seminoles were able to gain the lead with 5:29 remaining in the game.
Florida State’s guard Olivia Bresnahan completed on a jump shot to make it, 57-56. She Bresnahan finished the game in double-figures with 10 points and with five rebounds.
Charlotte is now on a three game losing streak, losing to Long Island (81-72, Florida (82-73) and Florida State. Junior forward Jen Hailey lead the 49ers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She also had two assist, fours steals and three blocked shots.
Alexa Deluzio made history by tying Jen Robinson, for 10th all-time in FSU history with 90 three-pointers. She finished the game with 14 points, and the foul shot to make it, 64-62.
Florida State will travel back to Ohio for their next game against Akron, Sat., at 2 p.m.
