The fifteenth-ranked Seminoles get much needed come-from-behind win Sunday afternoon to defeat Miami 4-2 on Senior Day inside the Seminole Complex.
McCarty led all players on Sunday with three points as she tallied a goal and an asset in the win. The redshirt junior forward scored the final goal of the match in the 88th minute to secure the wine for the Seminoles. The score also made McCarty the all-time goal scoring leader in school history as she moved ahead of Cindy Schofield for the top spot with 41 career goals.
“I don’t think we made it very easy for ourselves,” said head coach Mark Krikorian. “We came out pretty good and sometimes when you score early, you take your foot off the gas, but I don’t think we were as sharp as we have been this season
“But as soon as we went down, we gained a couple of gears and I thought our quality (of play) was much, much better. It is nice to see that we can go down a goal and comeback and respond positively.”
The win allows for the lady Noles to still have a chance to enter the ACC Tournament which will begin Sunday, Oct. 30. The Seminoles currently sit in seventh place in the league standings with 12 points and with one final game remaining in the regular season.
The team will travel to face Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7pm for the regular season finale.
