Lady Rattlers Get First Win 3-2 Over Davidson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 8 )– The Florida A&M Volleyball team picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Davidson, 3-2 (19-25, 25-20, 26-24, 19-25, 15-11) in their second match of the Radisson University of North Florida Invitational, here Saturday Morning at UNF arena.

FAMU (1-7) had three Lady Rattlers to finish in double-digit kills as Yeisha Arcia recorded a team high 20 kills, followed by Pamela Barrera with 13, while Maria Ceccarelli added 10. Diana Gonzales tallied a team high 51 assists, while Karol Marquez finished with a match high 32 digs.

Davidson (3-3) had four Wildcats to finish in double-digit kills as Caroline Brown finished with 20 kills, followed by Tindall Sewell with 17, Hannah Rau added 14 , while Taylor Pisel finished with 10. Ariel Ley led Davidson in assists with 63, while Davidson had four Wildcats to finish in double-digit digs.

In the first set, Davidson grabbed a 13-9 lead on a Pisel kill. They would then extend their lead to 17-12 on a Ley kill as the Wildcats would go on to win the first set 25-19.

The Lady Rattlers would come back in the second set as they jumped out to a 10-5 lead capped off by a Arcia kill. FAMU would then increase their lead to 15-9 on a Wildcat attack error.

Davidson would cut the Lady Rattler’s lead to 22-20 on a FAMU attack error. FAMU would score the next three points for the 25-20 win as they scored on a Wildcat attack error, Huanec kill and a service ace by Gonzales.

FAMU would hold on for a 26-24 win in the third set as Davidson went on a 10-6 run to tie the set at 24-24. The Lady Rattlers would win the set as they scored on a Huanec kill and a Davidson reception error.

The fourth set would see five ties as FAMU would go on a 6-0 run to win the fourth set 25-19.

In the fifth and final set, FAMU would never trail as their biggest lead of the set would be three points as the Lady
