TALLAHASSEE, FLA. ( – The Florid State women’s basketball team heated up the court Thursday night in the Donald L. Tucker center with their fast play. The Seminoles were able to defeat in-state rival Florida, 98-67.

Florida State Head Coach Sue Semrau achieved her 50th win against a team in the state of Florida.

“It was us doing our job,” said Florida State guard Leonor Rodriguez, who scored a career high 21 points. “It was also the bench, and was also the fans.”

Coach Sue Semrau gained one of her biggest win the season, so far, with two of her top performers on the bench to start the game.

“When you can have an All-American like Natasha Howard on the bench and a kid like Alexa Deluzio who has been amazing in her career and had a great night tonight, that’s selfless basketball and they really bought into that.” said Coach Sue Semrau.

After going on a 28-2 run midway through the 1st period, the Lady Seminoles never looked back.

Florida State captured their biggest win over Florida since a 42-point victory in 1980, 90-48.

Florida State will take on  Stetson Sunday at 2 p.m. in  the Donald L. Tucker Center.
