Owens Grabs College Football Performance Award

DAVIDSON,NC – (Sept.17) FAMU running back/kick returner James Owens was selected as the week 3 National All-Purpose Performer of the Week, announced today by executive director Brad Smith. Owens, led the Rattlers to a 44-20 home-opener victory over visiting conference foe Hampton University.

Owens scored three touchdowns, gaining 161 yards on 11 carries. He also had 117 return yards, along with his receiving yards, brought his all-purpose total to 282 yards.

Owens, who is just returning to full strength after a minor hamstring diversion, made the play of the game on a 57-yard scamper, outracing the entire Pirate defense for the score.

The 5’8″, 180 lb junior is from Apopka,Fl, where he attended Wekiva High School and is a redshirt junior.
