On this weeks show it was week one for high school football, FAMU and Florida State also kicked off their home openers as well and the FAMU Volleyball team has their first home game of the season.
Florida State defeats UAB Sunday afternoon in Birmingham. Four different Seminoles scored in their win over the Blazers.
The Seminole defense posted their fourth shutout of the season limiting the Blazers to six shots including just two shots on goal, according to seminole.com.
“In the first half, UAB did a good job of coming out and were strong in their defending,” head coach Mark Krikorian told reporters. “Our kids seemed a little bit sluggish and lethargic as the Marquette game on Friday took a little bit out of them. But playing a home game on Friday, getting up and traveling all the way here to Birmingham and having to play against a good UAB team on Sunday is a challenge.
The Lady Rattlers lost their first home game of the season today against Jacksonville University Dolphins, in the Al Lawson Center.
FAMU was one able to mange one match against JU 3-1 (21-25, 19-25, 25-15, 18-25).
The Lady Rattlers will return to action on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 8 as they will face the University of Miami.

FAMU High senior Dejuan Holton busted out runs of 90, 80 and 54 yards in the second half, while also playing middle linebacker for the Rattlers. As the Rattlers knocked off Maclay 48-21 on Friday. FAMU High finished with 501 yards on the ground.

The (4-1) Lady Noles extended their him win streak last night against No. 11 Marquette. The Noles also gave the Golden Eagles their first loss of the season.
Janice Cayman, Tori Huster and Jessica Price all scored a goal last night in the win.
