ATLANTA, Ga. (Nov. 24) -The Florida A&M Women’s Basketball team dropped a 77-58 decision to Georgia State in their final game of the Georgia State Invitational, here Saturday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.
FAMU (2-2) was paced by Jasmine Grice as she scored a game-high 30 points, followed by Kimberly Sparkman with 14. Tierra Prothro led the Lady Rattlers on the boards with 11, while Andreya Lacey dished out a team-high four assists.
GSU (4-1) had four Lady Panthers to score in double figures as Maryam Dogo recorded a double-double as she scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Kendra Long tallied 13 points, while both Cody Paulk and Ashley Watson finished with 12 points each.
The Lady Panthers grabbed an early 16-3 lead on a Kayla Nolan free throw with 13:02 to go in the first half. GSU would extend their lead to 37-14 with 1:41 to go in the game on a Tiffany Anderson field goal as they would go into the break with a 41-18 lead as the Lady Rattler finished the half shooting 18.2 percent (6-of-33), while GSU shot 41.5 percent (13-of-31).
In the second half, the Lady Panthers would extend their lead to much as 31 points on a pair of Ashley Watson free throw with 7:54 to go in the game.
The Lady Rattlers would close out the half with a 13-5 run as the Lady Panthers won the contest 77-58.
FAMU will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 28 as they will welcome Southern Mississippi to the Al Lawson Center in a 7 p.m. tip.
