Rattlers Dismantle Yellow Jackets 109-59 In Lawson

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Dec. 8) – The Florida A&M Men’s Basketball team picked up their fourth win of the season as they defeated Allen University 109-59, here Saturday afternoon at the Al Lawson Center.

FAMU (4-6) had six Rattlers to score in double-figures as Michael Fabiyi scored a team-high 15 points, followed by Jomari Bradshaw with 14, while both Muhammad Abdul-Aleem and Trey Kellum finished with 11 points each and both Walter Davis and McWisdom Badejo with 10 points each.  Kellum led the Rattlers on the boards with 12.   Jakari Bush led FAMU in assists with a game high eight assists. FAMU’s starters saw severely diminished minutes as head coach Clemon Johnson used the majority of the game to get the Rattler reserves, who will be deeded upon during MEAC competition, much-needed playing time.

Allen (2-10) had two yellow jackets to finish in double-digit scoring as Richard Johnson led all scorers with 22 points, while Jadia Johnson pumped in 12.

The Rattlers opened the first stanza with a 25-9 lead on an Oneyekachukwu Odi layup with 9:47 to go in the first. FAMU would extend their lead to 23 points on a Badejo field goal with 3:02 left in the half, giving the Rattlers a 43-22 lead.

The Rattlers would go into the break with a 50-27 lead as they finished the first half shooting 52.6 percent (20-of-38), while Allen shot 33.3 percent (11-of-33).

FAMU opened the second half with a 16-7 run, capped off by a Jomari Bradshaw field goal with 15:19 to go in the first. The Rattlers would enjoy a lead of as much as 42 points, before defeating Allen for the 109-59.

FAMU finished the game shooting 58.5 percent (24-of-41) from the field, while Allen shot 32.2 (10-of-31).  The Rattlers held the rebounding edge over the Yellow Jackets 54-36.

The Rattlers will return action on the Saturday, December 15 as they will travel to Clemson, S.C. to take on Clemson University in a 7 p.m. start.
