TALLAHASSEE, FLA., (www.franchisesportsonline.net) – For the first time in over a year, Deondre Francois will trot onto Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium as the starting quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles.

Francois last appeared in the opening game against Alabama last September in Atlanta, Ga.  Francois exited the game in the fourth quarter after being tackled from behind. Later that week, it was revealed that he tore his patellar tendon in his right knee, and would miss the remainder of the 2017 season.

The redshirt junior won ACC Rookie of the year honors in 2016, posting a 20:7 touchdown-to-interception ratio and 3,350 yards with a 142.1 quarterback rating.

Francois was also competing with redshirt freshman Bailey Hockman and sophomore James Blackman, who replaced Francois last year.

Seminole fans have been longing for the start of this season after the hiring of head coach Willie Taggart. Last season’s 7-6 record was the worst at FSU since 2009.

No. 19 FSU opens the season against No. 20 Virginia Tech on Monday, Sept. 3 at 8 p.m.

Tallahassee, Fla. – With off-season changes to the offense and defense, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher looks forward to seeing improvements and development from his maturing team this spring.

“You can experiment a lot in the spring and move guys around and see who the play makers are and who can be versatile and do things for your team,” said head coach Jimbo Fisher during a news conference on Monday. “I’m looking forward to how they can jump up and compete and not only provide competition for starting jobs but for good quality depth. That’s always the key.”

Over the off-season head coach Fisher made some personnel changes switching junior defensive end Dan Hicks to offense and moving defensive tackle Cameron Erving to the offensive line.

One of the biggest challenges of the spring session for the FSU offense will be to find a starting offensive line. The Seminoles struggled last season at the offensive line position giving up 40 sacks for a total of 286 yards.
