TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(Aug. 18)– The Florida A&M Football team held their first scrimmage of fall camp as the Rattler offense scored three touchdowns, here Saturday morning at the Rattler practice field.
Sophomore quarterback Damien Fleming, showed his maturity as he completed his first six passes in a row. He would finish the series completing seven passes in eight attempts for 80 yards with his longest pass completion being to Al-Terek McBurse for 23 yards.
The Rattlers had two big plays nullified due to false start penalties, a 57-yard reception to Travis Harvey from Fleming and a 28-yard TD reception to Harvey once again from Fleming.

MIDWAY,FL – Former football player Justin Davis knows what it means to be disciplined and dedicated. Davis graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from FAMU in December 2011, while playing linebacker for the Rattlers during his time in school. Davis was well known for his hard-nosed dedication to special teams. A player that head coach Joe Taylor described as a model citizen, Davis has taken the next step in his career, as he graduated from the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy on June 26, and is preparing to take the next step in his life.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – FAMU head football coach Joe Taylor, will host his annual football camp on the campus of Florida A&M University on June 27-30. The camp will take place at the Rattler practice fields, Galimore-Powell Fieldhouse and Bragg Memorial Stadium.
The camp will host more than 150 young athletes (ages 10-18). Taylor and his staff of coaches will train the youngsters in updated techniques for all basic fundamentals.

Tallahassee, Fla. (famuathletics.com) – The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers ended the 2012 regular season with a 24-27 record. In MEAC play, the Lady Rattlers were 10-4, ending the season on an impressive eight-game winning streak, comprised entirely of conference games.
The season began with three straight losses, as the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, University of Central Florida and the University of North Florida all took advantage of the squad with a core of new players, struggling to find rhythm.

FAMU head football coach Joe Taylor knew during Spring drills that he would have to replace key elements of his receiver corps, but he could not possibly have predicted that both of his graduating wide receivers would be offered free agent contracts by the NFL. Brian Tyms has been offered to play for the San Francisco 49ers and Kevin Elliott has been offered to play with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The offeres came after Elliott and Tyms wowed scouts at the annual FAMU pro timing day event. Elliot and Tyms stole the show at the on-campus combine, drawing all of the attention of the scouts by the end of the workout

This week FAMU Athletics gave the football team some relief, bringing in the Head Coaches of all the sports in to speak about their seasons, current or upcoming. Basketball Coach Clemon Johnson drew laughs from the crowd of media and FAMU Staff when likening stout big-man Yannick Crowder to himself when he donned a Rattler jersey, as well as jovial gripes on the lack of records for blocks in the FAMU all-time stats, and how easy he recorded over three in a game.

FAMU’s Antonia Bennett and Tameka McKelton were selected to the preseason All-MEAC team today, the MEAC announced. Entering their senior seasons, Bennett and McKelton look to repeat with postseason honors and guide the Lady Rattlers to a run at the MEAC title, according to Florida A&M Sports Information.
The Lady Rattlers are picked to finish fourth in the conference. Coming off a 15-15 season, 9-7 in the MEAC, the Lady Rattlers look to show some consistency for the entire year.
McKelton, returns as the leading scorer for the Lady Rattlers. She had a 16.5 points per game average last year. She scored 495 points, en route to eclipsing the 1,000 point career mark as just a junior. She also dropped in 49 three-pointers, grabbed 98 rebounds, dished out 47 assists and clawed 48 steals.
