TALLAHASSEE, FLA., (www.franchisesportsonline.net) – The Tallahassee Community College Eagles (13-10) defeated the East Georgia State Bobcats to extend 7-2 to extend their winning streak to seven games.
TCC scored first when Myron Mebane drove home Tanner Thomas on a single to center. After starting the season 0-for-13, he’s turned it around and is 4-for-11 in his last four games.
This is the seventh straight game in which the Eagles have scored in the first inning.
The Eagles scored a run in each of the first four innings. A single by Bryce Plummer brought home Jack Hartman in the second inning, and a sacrifice fly by Thomas allowed the second run of the inning to score.
Nick Blasucci drove home Deyvid Silva in the third inning to give TCC a 4-0 lead.
Already with a run on the board in the fifth inning, Silva knocked in two more runs to provide the Eagles with a 7-0 cushion. The Eagles didn’t score the rest of the game, but their pitching staff took care of business.
Starting pitcher Hunter Tinsley pitched four innings and gave up four hits and no earned runs. The only time he got in trouble was in the top of the fifth, when he gave up a walk to the first three batters of the inning. TCC Coach Mike McCleod pulled him and Jake Hunkiar came in relief. He retired the first two batters, and it appeared that he’d retire the third and get out of the jam. However, first baseman Blasucci couldn’t field an errant throw by shortstop Silva to end the inning. The error allowed two runs to score. Silva made up for it on the very next play and got the final out of the sixth.
Nick Marchese came in the seventh to closed out the next three innings for the Eagles. He retired seven of his first eight batters. Six of those batters were struck out. Over three innings, he gave up no hits, three walks, and struck out seven.
TCC plays East Georgia State again on Saturday at 1:00, and Grand Rapids Community College at 6:00.
