TALLAHASSEE, FLA., (www.franchisesportsonline.net) – Tallahassee Community College mens basketball team went up against North West Florida State Raiders Wednesday night and came up short 71-75.
The Eagles started the game off fast, in the middle of the first period as TCC guard Richard Washington drains his second three pointer to give the eagles a 11 point lead. With 10:52 left in the first period the Raiders guard Chris Duarte knocks down a three to give them the lead 19-18.
Right before the half North West Florida State guard Trey Diggs hits a clutch three pointer putting the raiders ahead 36-32. Washington paced the Eagles with 13 points going into the half. Durante led the Raiders also with 13 points.
With a block by Eagles forward Natorion Tyson and a dunk by guard Jalen Dalcourt TCC ties the ball game up 55-55 . Late in the 2nd period the raiders guard Javion Hamlet was fouled and sent to the line and made both free throws ending the game 75-71.
Finishing the game leading the Eagles in points were Washington with 17, seven rebounds and two assists. Devin Palmer ended the game with 15 points and three rebounds.
Duarte led the Raiders with 25 points four rebounds and one block. Forward Eric Villa finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds
Assistant head coach of the Eagles Zach Settembre talked about his team performance. he also chatted on the chances that they could win the panhandle conference.
” I am beyond proud of them, our kids competed” coach Settembre said. “If we play with this same fire and energy for the next nine games, we are going to have a great chance to play out of the conference and go to the championship”
The Eagles will face Pensacola State Pirates (13-7) on Saturday Jan 19. at 8:30 in Pensacola, Fl.
