The University of Akron women’s basketball team were no match for Florida State Saturday afternoon, as the Noles snapped the Zips four-game winning streak.
Rachel Tecca led Akron with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Ohio natives CIerra Bravard and Natasha Howard both had career-best performances in their home state.
Senior Cierra Bravard scored 28 points and grabbed 12 boards for her second double-double of the season.
Sophomore forward Natasha Howard also ended the night with her third double-double of the season, scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds.
“They came out and did a great job on the other end of what our guards were able to do – which was get them the ball,” FSU head coach Sue Semrau told reporters. “They finished well and they both went to the board extremely well. It’s fun to see them rewarded when they do that.”
It was a back and fourth first half with five lead changes and four ties, but FSU was able to take the led 36-33 entering the half. Bravard ended the first half with 10 points.
But, after the half junior forward Chelsea Davis was able to help the Seminoles break away with the game. Scoring eight consecutive points in the second half, 58-45.
The Seminoles will hit the court again on Dec. 19 to host Alabama A&M.
