NORFOLK, VA (Oct.1) –Freshman outside hitter Yeisha Arcia has been named the MEAC volleyball rookie of the week, the MEAC announced today. Arcia, a 5’11” newcomer from San Juan, Puerto Rico, averaged a .396 hitting percentage in two matches to lead the Rattlers to a 2-0 record in MEAC play.
She recorded 10 kills on 18 attacks (.444) with two digs in a 3-0 win over Savannah State. Against South Carolina State, she totaled a season-high 16 kills with three digs, one ace and three blocks.
On the season, Arcia leads the Lady Rattlers with 128 kills on the year (3.2/set), while on the defensive side, she garnered 104 digs (2.6/set). The Lady Rattlers sit atop the MEAC southern division with a 2-0 conference record after shutting out Savannah State and South Carolina State over the weekend.
